Here's a fabulous original 1980s Antler hard-shell leather briefcase, manufactured in Britain and finished in a gorgeous rich tan leather with contrasting brass-coloured hardware.

We sell loads of vintage briefcases, travel bags and luggage, but every now and again something comes along that really stands out. This is one of those pieces!

What makes this particular case so special is the colour. The beautiful tan leather has developed a wonderful patina over the decades, which is perfectly complemented by the brass-coloured fittings. It's a fantastic combination and gives the case bags of character and that unmistakable vintage British look.

It's a proper old-school executive briefcase, built to last and just as practical today as it was forty years ago.

CONDITION

This is where the character really comes through!

First of all, please remember that this is a genuine vintage briefcase dating back to the 1980s, so it's not brand new, nor are we pretending otherwise.

It's been used and enjoyed over the decades and has naturally picked up a few interesting battle scars along the way. There are some scuffs and marks, particularly around the corners and edges, together with the general signs of age you'd expect from a leather case that's been around for approximately forty years.

However, there's nothing particularly serious, and we think these little imperfections only add to its character and charm.

The leather has developed a fabulous vintage patina, and the combination of the deep tan colour and brass-coloured hardware looks absolutely superb.

More importantly, the briefcase remains in excellent working order.

Both combination locks operate correctly, the handle and fittings are secure, all components are present, and the case opens and closes exactly as it should. It remains watertight and perfectly suitable for regular use.

This isn't some fragile old collector's piece that needs to spend the rest of its life sitting on a shelf. It's a properly constructed, fully functional vintage briefcase that's ready to go straight back into service.

OUR VERDICT

If you're looking for a pristine, factory-fresh briefcase, this probably isn't the one for you. You'd be better off buying a modern reproduction.

However, if you appreciate the quality, character and workmanship of an original British-made Antler briefcase from the 1980s, then this is a rather different proposition.

They simply don't make many things like this anymore.

We've handled plenty of older briefcases over the years, and in terms of colour, character and overall appearance, this is genuinely one of the nicest examples we've seen in a long time.

Whether you intend to use it for work, documents, everyday business or simply appreciate classic vintage luggage, it's a wonderful piece with plenty of life left in it.
