The chess set in the photos is the one that you'll recieve.
It was a gift way back in 2002 but the young boy who recieved it had no interest in Star Wars or chess! So he opened the box but never actually played with it.
Thus, the set, pieces and board remain in pristine condition. However, after quarter of a century in storage there is some minor wear on the corners of the box - please see pics. Nothing serious!
I have to say I'm REALLY impressed with the quality of the chessmen - they're really well designed and look incredible. However, Lucasfilm have been a bit naughty here...the pieces are actually painted plastic - not real bronze and pewter! To be honest they did a really good job and actually look metal but when you pick them up you can tell they're definitely not a heavy metal alloy!

Overall, a really nice set - if you're looking for a Star Wars Chess set this is definitely one of the best they've ever produced.
