JVC DR-E2L Stereo Radio Twin Cassette Vintage 1989 - Right Tape Needs Belts
Thanks for looking
If you're reading this then you most likely know your audio systems and already know exactly what you're looking at. Nb - this partially works but definitely needs attention so I'm selling it sold as seen for spares or repairs.
Fantastic JVC DR-E2L stereo in good cosmetic condition but not working fully and will need a repair (details below). This model was released way back in the 80's so it's very rare to find one.
We travel all over the country to locate rare and vintage items. When I saw this I took a punt without testing it. As it's in such good cosmetic condition it was worth taking the risk. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose - on this occasion I LOST!
The machine switches on fine. All lights come on. Radio works. Counter works. Rewind and FF work fine, left hand tape seems to be working fine....BUT issue with the right hand tape - I tested it with a cassette and only one spool is turning so the tape sort of bunches up. Most likely a deteriorated belt but might be something else. I was going to open it up and have a look but suddenly remembered I'm not an engineer and would probably do more damage than good if I went poking around inside without a clue what I'm even supposed to be looking for!
So this is one for a tinkerer or someone who knows how these machines work. Get it fixed and you'll easily quadruple your investment, maybe more.
Rather than me waffle on about how brilliant it is please check some reviews online and see what other owners think. This is a VERY highly regarded model! There are also some videos on YouTube that are worth a watch. Once fixed, this will be worth well over £100 so grab a bargain
Specifications
The JVC DR-E2L is a vintage 1980's Hi-Fi stereo double cassette deck receiver (part of a component system) featuring AM/FM radio with 8 presets, an amplifier, and headphone jack. Designed for tapes, it typically paired with the AL-E1 turntable.
Key Specifications & Features:
Audio Inputs: Cassette Tape
Audio Outputs: Stereo L/R RCA, Headphone Jack
Features: Double Cassette Deck (Play/Record), Radio Tuner
Tuner: AM/FM, 8 Presets
Equaliser: Built-in with Left/Right Balance
Condition
As mentioned above it's in good cosmetic condition. The previous guardian hardly ever used it and it was always kept in a cabinet so no marks or scuffs, no missing switches or buttons (all working). I think he kept the turntable on the top so there's a dent in the metal - nothing serious, a cosmetic issue and nothing you wouldn't expect from a machine this old - please check pic for details.
I can only think that the belts/heads may have degraded over the decades and need renewing....now it just needs to be fixed!!
That's it! Overall, if you're looking for one of these that you'd be happy to repair, this is definitely the best option available on the market - you won't be disappointed.
Feel free to ask any questions. Whilst this is a fair price for one of these it's still an expensive item. I'm happy to send any additional photos if you need them - just ask!
Shipped within 48 hr tracked, insured and signed with DPD (if you prefer another courier let me know). Your stereo will be well padded and placed in a reinforced box to ensure it arrives safely and on time
