Really unusual item! Im a professional business seller on here and it took me ages to work out why this was made.
The cooler box in the photos is the one that you'll recieve. As you can see it's in excellent condition despite being 40 years old.
Ive done some research on this and from what I can tell it's:
The easy bit: a large sized cooler box which was definitely made in 1986. It measures 37 x 38 x 26cm (exterior) and will hold about 10 cans/bottles of beer - eniugh to get you through penalties. More than tall enough to hold plenty of wine bottles if thats your preference (obviously, plus loads of ice too). It has a locking lid, top handle and is a pretty sturdy case. You can actually use the lid as a tray - has spaces for 6 cans. Will keep your drinks cold for hours and it's nice and clean - ready to go!
The middle bit: it was made by Bachelors who as far as I'm aware make soup - hot soup. Not sure why but they definitely made this box - their name is embossed all over the top. Doesn't make much sense but Bachelors who make hot soup created an ice box
The difficult bit: this is where it gets really confusing...there's a metal enameled St George's Flag attached to the front. It was made in 1986 when the world cup was held in Mexico so I can only deduce that Bachelors were the "official soup provider" for the England team during the tournament. Its obviously a promotional item so perhaps Bachelors just wanted to get their name out there and associated with the team - so they made this!
I can't find any more like this anywhere so it must have been a very limited run. Most likely this is the last one left on Earth.
Beyond the odd story behind it, its actually a really useful item for the World Cup. Ever missed a critical goal because you were getting a top up from the fridge? I have (David Platt, England v Belgium,Italia '90 - still remember this happening!). This will eliminate that occurrence. Also - its a really cool item!
