Antique Wooden Instrument Storage Box 1930's Surveyors Level No 1 - Mid Sized

THANKS FOR LOOKING!

Here's a wonderful opportunity to own a lovely antique wooden instrument storage box, believed to date from around the 1930s, with bags of character and a fascinating history!

Originally designed to house a Stanley surveyor's level, this substantial wooden case is now being offered as a vintage storage box, decorative piece or interesting addition to a collection of antique scientific instruments.

The box features beautiful aged wood with a rich, natural patina, traditional dovetail joints, original metal fittings and the words “LEVEL No. 1” painted on the lid.

Inside, it retains all its original fitted wooden supports and inserts, including the green protective felt covering. There are also original Stanley and Clarkson Group labels, providing an interesting connection to the box's working history.

The case has its original side handles, two traditional metal catches on the front and a central keyhole. Unfortunately, the original key is no longer present.

This is a really attractive old wooden box, with plenty of possibilities. It could be used for storing small tools, collectables, memorabilia or other treasured possessions, or simply displayed as an unusual piece of vintage industrial décor.

The original internal fittings remain in place and form part of its character, although they could potentially be removed or adapted by the new owner if required.

Please note that this listing is for the EMPTY WOODEN CASE ONLY. No surveying instrument is included.

NB: The box shown in our photographs is the exact one you'll receive. We never use stock photographs.

CONDITION

Very good overall vintage condition, particularly considering its considerable age!

The wood has developed a lovely natural patina over the years, with the usual surface marks, scratches and signs of handling associated with a genuine antique item.

As clearly shown in our photographs, there is a split in the wood on the top of the case.

This is cosmetic rather than structural and does not affect the box's usefulness or functionality as a storage case.

The original metal fittings, handles and interior wooden supports remain in place.

There is no key included.

We haven't attempted to restore or refinish the box, preferring to preserve its original appearance and character.

A lovely, honest example of an old wooden instrument case, with all the charm and history that comes with genuine age.

Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
