This is a lovely original 1920s handmade German full-size violin case, constructed from wood with a rigid hard shell and finished in an unusual lacquered beige houndstooth-pattern covering.
Inside it's beautifully fitted with a soft cushioned velvet lining, a separate accessory / storage compartment and dedicated bow holders in the lid. It's a proper old-fashioned case, beautifully made and considerably more substantial than most modern equivalents.

Condition
For something approaching 100 years old, this is in remarkably good condition.
The outer shell has some age-related wear and marks, as you'd naturally expect from a working case of this age, but nothing excessive or particularly distracting, no cracks or splits in the wood - obviously a very high quality piece when it was made.
The interior is exceptional and remarkably clean, with the velvet lining looking close to mint.
The leather handle is still strong and perfectly usable, all of the catches work correctly and the case is absolutely good enough to carry and protect a violin today.
A lovely usable antique rather than something that simply needs to sit on a shelf.
