A superb antique Stoewer-made Harris hand-crank sewing machine, dating from approximately 1910 and complete with its original wooden case and key.

The machine was manufactured in Germany by Stoewer for W.J. Harris & Co. and carries the wonderful original "THE HARRIS" gilt decoration.
This is a particularly attractive surviving example and, importantly, is not being sold simply as an untested display piece. The machine has been serviced, oiled, tested and is in full working order (you will need to regularly oil it depending on usage)

CONDITION
Excellent antique condition for a machine now well over 100 years old.
The black finish and ornate gilt decoration have survived particularly well, with the decorative detailing remaining remarkably crisp and attractive.
There are various small marks, scratches and signs of age/use to both the machine and wooden case, as would naturally be expected from an antique of this age. Please study the photographs carefully as these show the condition in detail and form part of the description.
Mechanically it is excellent. The machine has been checked, lightly serviced and oiled and the hand-crank mechanism operates smoothly. It has been tested and is fully working.
The original wooden case is also included together with its key.
A lovely piece of early sewing-machine history which looks fantastic as a decorative antique, but remains a usable working machine rather than simply a display piece.
