Vintage Merseyside Police Helmet Liverpool 70s 80s Obsolete Size M Toxteth Riots

This is one of those special items! Exceptionally rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of Liverpool and British history. We bought this from a former officer who was a Constable based in Liverpool throughout the 1970's and early 80's. This was his police issued helmet. This is the one he used during the Toxteth Riots! I've included a pic of Police officers helping one of their colleagues during the actual riots - you can see it's the same model.
If you're not familiar with the riots look them up - a seminal point in British history as thatcher attempted the managed decline of the City of Liverpool and much of The North - luckily, she was jetisoned by her own party before her diabolical plans could come to fruition (you can probably tell I'm not a fan of maggie!). This is a politically charged item which would be of great interest to anyone on either side of the fence!
The officer we bought this from was getting on in years by the time the riots occurred so he wasn't on the front line....consequently, the Helmet wasn't pelted with the rioters bricks - it remains in outstanding condition!
The Helmet in the photos is the one that you'll recieve. It comes in a size small to medium and the model number is 4204 (produced from 1977 - 1982). It consists of a hard shell coated in black felt with a padded lining. It still has the brim lining and leather chin strap - both fully functional. It has the chrome section on top and the Merseyside Police crest on the front
Condition
This is the best part! The previous guardian was old school - he came from a time when the British Bobby, with his sturdy truncheon, was a respected member of the community (unlike modern cops who look like something out of Mad Max!). Subsequently, he took enormous pride in his appearance and was always smart - his uniform, and in particular this Helmet were always maintained to the highest standard. It is so good it could almost pass for being brand new!
There are no dents, no marks, no faded or worn patches, no loose stitching and most importantly, its complete with the chin strap which is very rare. The crest remains mint. As it was a working helmet there is some light wear in the inner brim and on the chrome section on the top but nothing you wouldn't expect from any helmet used in active service. Not quite mint but for a used, working helmet which is half a century old it's about as good as you'll find.
