Founded in 1886, the company became renowned for traditionally made English footwear and leather goods, and is still going strong today. Vintage Cheaney briefcases like this are considerably harder to find than their shoes, particularly examples that have survived for around half a century in this sort of condition.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\" style=\"margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0;\"\u003eIt's a proper old-school executive case: beautifully made, extremely substantial and with loads of character. This one genuinely looks as though it has seen very little use.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\" style=\"margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0;\"\u003eThe black pebbled leather across the front, back and handle is remarkably close to pristine. There are just a couple of minor scuffs around the edges and base, as you'd expect with something of this age.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\" style=\"margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0;\"\u003eThe brass hardware has some light scratches and tarnishing from age, but even more remarkably the original key is still present.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\" style=\"margin-top:0; margin-bottom:0;\"\u003eIt's difficult to imagine finding many 1970s working briefcases in better original condition than this one.
