Vintage Antique Trunk Chest 1941 WWII London Blitz Euston Travel Stickers Wood
Thanks for looking
If you're reading this then you'll already know exactly what you're looking at.
This is a wooden travel chest used during World War 2. It still has the original travel stickers on the side and we can just about read the date - 24th November, 1941. Thos was right in the middle of The Blitz but unusually, this chest was travelling towards London, Euston rather than away - where most people were going! It was possibly owned by someone in the military but I can't be certain.
Nb - the trunk in the photos is the one that you'll recieve. We don't use stock images.

Condition
This is the best part! We sell a lot of antique trunks and cases (mainly as props to the film industry). Usually, they're battered and broken which is fine as a background prop but this one is still fully functional so it's too good for the movies! I hope it goes to someone who will use and appreciate it properly. The trunk is still fully functional - obviously, a very well made item in its day. If you want it back to mint it'll need a good clean and there's some rust on the steel which you can wire brush off. Theoretically, you could varnish it too to make it look new. Personally, I think it looks better as it is but obviously, it's your call. Oh...just remembered that the tray tray sits in the top has a thin paper base. There were a few tears in this so I've patched it up with tape - only visible if you take the tray out and then turn it upside down. Other than that there are no issues. Hinges, clips etc all work fine.
Overall, it's a totally unique item in fully functional antique condition. Definitely a one-off, you won't find another one like this elsewhere.

Shipped within 24H tracked and signed via Parcelforce. The chest is very tough so they wont be able to break it but I'll wrap it carefully before shipping. We use parcelforce because they're the most reliable courier. Hermes/evri are £2 cheaper but are no longer a tenable company to work with. An expensive and rare item with a high resale value like this would get 'accidentally lost'!
