JONES BOOTMAKER Boots Mens Uk 8.5 Tan Leather Vintage 70's Curch's England
Thanks for looking
If you're reading this then you'll already know exactly what you're looking at.
Jones Bootmaker were founded in 1857 and merged with Church's in the 50's. Since 2001 they've been moved between a number of private equity firms - manufacturing has moved to Asia and obviously the quality has suffered as a result.
This pair are from the golden age for Jones as they were hand made in England in the mid 1970's - while the company was part of Church's group.
Quite an interesting pair of boots as they're a Chelsea design but a few inches taller than standard Chelsea boots (see pic for exact height). If you're anything like me then you'll know how annoying Chelsea boots can be - your jeans/trousers always get caught at the Achilles whenever you stand up after sitting - either fold them back over the boot immediately or, mor often than not, I forget and look like an idiot for a few hours! This pair is just long enough to prevent that from happening without being so tall that they're cowboy boots!
Nb - the boots in the photos are the pair that you'll receive. I doubt you'll ever find another pair elsewwhere.

Condition
Very good condition for such an old pair of boots. Obviously, a very expensive item in their time so it's good to see the previous guardian was always careful with them.
Buying used shoes can be dodgy so I've broken down the details as follows:
▪︎ Uppers - near perfect. No scuffs. No loose stitching
▪︎ Inners - near mint. No issues whatsoever
▪︎ soles - ok for now. No problems
▪︎ heels - ok for now but will need to be reheeled in a couple of years
Overall, a very high quality pair of vintage boots in perfectly useable condition. Look after them properly and they'll easily last another fifty years!
